The work

What recessed lighting actually involves

Recessed lighting is the difference between a room you squint in and a room that just works. A good install is mostly planning: how many cans, where the shadows fall, what the beam spread covers, and what color temperature the space calls for. We cut clean, fish wire without wrecking drywall, and set trims flush. Most modern cans are LED with selectable color temperature, so the light can be warm in the living room and neutral over the kitchen island.

When you need it

  • One ceiling fixture is doing the work of six cans
  • The kitchen has shadows exactly where you chop
  • You are repainting or remodeling anyway, which is the cheap moment to wire
  • Your old cans are yellowed halogen and you want LED without visible retrofits
