Arizona panel and EV charger rebates in 2026

The short version

Three incentives are alive and worth your time as of July 2026: Arizona's HEAR rebate, which covers up to $4,000 of an electrical panel upgrade for income qualified households, and the $250 Level 2 charger rebates from SRP and APS. Two big federal credits are dead: the EV charger tax credit expired June 30, 2026, and the $600 panel credit ended December 31, 2025.

Arizona HEAR: up to $4,000 toward a panel upgrade

The Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates program is Arizona's slice of the federal IRA rebate money, run by the Arizona Governor's Office of Resiliency under the Efficiency Arizona banner. For electrical panel upgrades, the program lists up to $4,000 per household, inside a $14,000 total cap across all electrification measures.

The catch is income eligibility. Households below 80% of area median income can have up to 100% of project cost covered. Households between 80% and 150% of AMI can get up to 50%. Above 150% of AMI, the program does not apply to you.

SRP: $250 for a Level 2 charger

SRP residential customers get up to $250 back on a qualifying Level 2 charger. You must apply within 90 days of purchase, and the charger has to be on SRP's eligible list. Most of Gilbert, Chandler, and Queen Creek is SRP territory.

APS: $250 for a smart Level 2 charger

APS offers a matching $250 rebate on qualifying smart Level 2 chargers, plus a small ongoing credit through its SmartCharge data sharing program. APS serves most of Scottsdale, parts of Tempe and Mesa, and pockets across the East Valley. Which utility you have is a per address question, and it decides which rebate you can claim; we confirm it on every charger quote.

Dead in 2026: the federal credits

The federal EV charger tax credit, Section 30C, was worth 30% of install cost up to $1,000. It expired June 30, 2026 under 2025 legislation and no extension has passed. The 25C home improvement credit, which included up to $600 for panelboards installed alongside qualifying heat pump equipment, ended for property placed in service after December 31, 2025. If a website or a salesman is still promising either one, they have not read the news since last year.

What this means if you are planning a panel upgrade

If your household income might fall under 150% of area median income, check HEAR before you schedule anything, because it is the single biggest pot of money and it is first come while funding lasts. If you are installing a charger, buy a model on your utility's qualifying list and file inside the window. And if anyone quotes you a panel job priced around a federal credit, get a second opinion.
